Our Hiding Place
Sheri, Destin, and I are heading down to Destin, Florida for a week starting tomorrow. It's a place that's very special to us. We will be meeting Mom, Dad, and Ty there as well.
Below are the lyrics to Jimmy Buffett's One Particular Harbor:
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao neiI know I don't get there often enough
But God knows I surely try
It's a magic kind of medicine
That no doctor could prescribeI used to rule my world from a pay phone
Ships out on the sea
But now times are rough
Oh I got too much stuff
I can't explain the likes of meChorus:
But there's this one particular harbor
So far but yet so near
Where I see the days as they fade away
Finally disappearBut then I think about the good times
Down in the Caribbean sunshine
In my younger days I was so bad
Laughin' about all the fun we've hadI seen enough to feel the world spin
Mixin' different oceans meetin' cousins
Listen to the drummers and the night sounds
Listen to the singers make the world go 'roundIa ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao neiLakes below the mountain
Flow into the sea
Like oils applied to canvas
Oh how they permeate through meBut there's this one particular harbor
Sheltered from the wind
Where the children play on the shore each day
And all are safe withinA most mysterious calling harbor
So far but yet so near
Where I see the day when my hair's full gray
And I finally disappearIa ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao neiIa ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao neiIa ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei(Ua pau te maitai no te fenua)
(Te zai noa ra te ora o te mitie)
(Ua pau te maitai no te fenua)
(Te zai noa ra te ora o te mitie)
The Emerald Coast is probably not what Jimmy had in mind when he wrote this song, especially with how crowded it is during the Fourth of July. Although being there does give me a sense of peace and quiet, if only in my mind.
Have a great holiday!
