Life - It's All About The Lyric
So I have entered the last week of my 20's. As of Friday, December 23rd, I will be the big 3-0. I'm not too scared or worried about it. I count myself amoung the young at heart.
I was thinking about my last decade and the things I might miss. I'm a big lyrics guy when it comes to modern music. Throughout my 20's I had songs that reminded me of my age through their words. Here are a few that I will miss:
| Age | Song | Lyric |
| 22 | Leaves That Are Green, Simon And Garfunkel | I was 21 years when I wrote this song I'm 22 now but I won't be for long Time hurries on. |
| 23 | What's My Age Again?, Blink-182 | And that's about the time she walked away from me Nobody likes you when you're 23 And you still act like you're in Freshman year What the f*ck is wrong with me? My friends say I should act my age What's my age again? |
| 24 | Preaching The End Of The World, Chris Cornell | Hello, I know there’s someone out there Who can understand And who’s feeling the same way as me I’m 24 and I’ve got everything to live for But I know now that it wasn’t meant to be ’cause all has been lost and all has been won And there’s nothing left for us to save But now I know that I don’t want to be alone today |
| 25 | Fly, Sugar Ray | All around the world, statues crumble for me Who knows how long I've loved you Everyone I know has been so good to me 25 years old, my mother God rest her soul |
| 27 | Rocky Mountain High, John Denver | He was born in the summer of his 27th year Comin' home to a place he'd never been before He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again You might say he found a key for every door |
I will continue to listen to those songs, of course, but it was always neat to hear them at that particular age. The front runner for age 30 is My Next Thirty Years by Tim McGraw. Not a huge fan.
I'll find something, or write something (even better!)
