Like I'm 15 Again

Today, because of a series of unfortunate events according in the past, I had to take the written test for a Colorado Driver's License. I only have an instructional permit at the moment so I am not able to drive unless there is a licensed driver in the seat next to me who is 21 years or age or older.

I studied my Colorado Driver's Handbook for a few hours yesterday. It paid off as I scored a 100%. The lady who administered my test gave me a root beer Dum-Dum lollipop.

So it's like I'm 15 again; which isn't too far from the truth.

Picture Of Jesus

I was able to enjoy a day off from my work today because of the work of one man, Dr. Martin Luther King. There really isn't much more to say about him than what has already been said. In Picture Of Jesus, Ben Harper gives some amazing props (emphasized below):

It hangs above my altar
Like they hung him from a cross
I keep one in my wallet
For the times I feel lost
I feel lost
In a wooden frame with splinters
Where my family kneels to pray
And if you listen close
You'll hear the words he used to say

I've got a picture of Jesus
In his arms so many prayers rest
We've got a picture of Jesus
And with him we shall be forever blessed
Forever blessed
Forever blessed

Now it has been spoken
He would come again
But would we recognize
This king among men
There was a man in our time
His words shine bright like the sun
He tried to lift the masses
And was crucified by gun

He was a picture of Jesus
With him so many prayers rest
He is a picture of Jesus
In his arms so many prayers
So many prayers
So many prayers rest
With him we shall be forever blessed
Forever blessed
Forever blessed

Some days have no beginning
And some days have no end
Some roads are straight and narrow
And some roads only bend
So let us say a prayer
For every living thing
Walking towards a light
From the cross of a king
We long to be a picture of Jesus
Of Jesus
In his arms
In his arms so many prayers rest
I long to be a picture of Jesus
With him we shall be forever blessed
With him we shall
With him we shall be forever blessed
Oh- Oh- I long
I've got a picture of Jesus

My Irish Coffee

Cloudy Irish Coffee
Originally uploaded by From The Still.

It's a drink I have always enjoyed, but have never made for myself. My first take turned out pretty well. I used these instructions to whip up the tasty concoction.

Aesthetically, it reminds me of a pint of Guinness. Maybe that is the point. I poured the cream over the spoon a little too fast which caused a little cloudiness in the coffee part. Didn't affect the flavor at all. A good measure of one of my favorites, Powers Irish Whiskey, was used.

Yummy.

10 year Eagle Rare Single Barrel

I have recently acquired a bottle of the 10 year, Single Barrel, Eagle Rare Bourbon. The bottle I have was purchased during a recent search for Hirsch Bourbon.

The particular bottle I have is one of a special bottling for Lukas Liquor. They tasted 8 barrels before choosing their own. It was bottled and sold for a mere 22 bucks each.

TF6S gave his review from the Whiskies of the World Expo of 2005 (albeit the 17 year instead of the 10 year). Eagle Rare truly is another beautiful spirit from the masters at Buffalo Trace.

Regardless of what anybody can say about it; you don't find many world class, 10 year, 90-proof, single barrel bourbons for $22 a bottle. A big thanks to Lukas Liquor for an amazing deal!

Get It While You Can

The inevitable is finally coming to the forefront with Hirsch bourbon.

I was recently in the Colorado location of Lukas Liquors, a place were I used to find a decent stash of the wonderful bourbon. The guys there said they can't get it anymore.

The 16 year is still available online for $100. I'm sure this is probably in tune with what local liquor stores who do have it. Maybe even more.

Stock up while you can!
